After discovering some additional history, (with assistance of David Crane, retired FBI Special Agent whom is currently authoring a book about the S&W 1076) I am re-listing this S&W Model 1076 with the updated information. Only 13,805 S&W Mod 1076 10MM pistols were ever produced. Many claim scores of these pistols (unconfirmed estimates of 1000+) were destroyed by the FBI after they downgraded to the 40S&W pistol as a carry weapon, thus making the police issued Mod 1076 10MM pistol even more scarce. History of this pistol, as verified by Smith & Wesson. Serial Number THB9434. Date of Manufacture is 12/21/1992. This pistol is not the civilian issued model. Manufactured as a police issued pistol. Has all the features of the S&W 1076's issued to the FBI agents. Was initially issued to the Virginia State Police. Was returned to S&W due to the recall/update. Recall/updates performed by S&W technicians. Has 2 dots stamped under the decocker lever. Has the latest updated trigger play spring. Has a U stamped on the bottom of trigger guard. Has an O & P stamped on the barrel. This is the latest barrel from S&W. Has a highly polished feed ramp. Has night sights. Has Palm Swell Grips. Has crosshatch checkering. Will fire with out magazine, and is labeled as such on the slide. Has the number 20543 embossed on the right side of frame grip (under the grip). Apparently placed there by the Virginia State Police. I purchased this pistol 10 to 12 years ago, to my best recollection. Pistol is super clean. Bore is excellent. Very low round count. Operates and shoots like new. No disappointments. Being a very limited production, government issued pistol, no doubt the value will increase. No box, no manual. Had the manual, but can not put my hands on it.
