MZ319 From the estate of one of our favorite Korean War Veterans comes this very well preserved Thompson/Center Hawken Flintlock. Serial number is 481,000 range, and we estimate it was bought new in the early 1980s. Barrel, of course, is .50 caliber, 28 inch 1:48 rifling, excellent for both round balls and patches, and conical bullets. Our late customer took very good care of his guns, and we detect no rust anywhere or indications of it, inside or outside. Blue metal surfaces and bore are all bright, clean, and excellent. The only residue we detect is on the frizzen and pan, nowhere else. Note the stainless fire hole in the side of the barrel. Surface detractions to the wood are minimal, occasional scouring, mostly on the left side, and we estimate that no more than 15 percent of the walnut surfaces are affected. This Hawken Flintlock is excellent mechanically, bore, locks, and triggers are excellent and full strength. We rate this .50 Flintlock as Excellent, since no more than 10 percent of its total finish is affected by use indicators; photos, however, ought to suffice so that our distinguished shoppers can judge finish grade for themselves. So far as we know, only the percussion Hawken is in production nowadays, and those command prices upwards of $800 apiece in our area.
