Staying in The Black: The Thompson Center $263 Impact Muzzleloader – Full Review

Though the muzzleloading rifle market has quite a bit to offer, if this style of rifle isn’t your primary hunting tool a large investment may not make a lot of sense. For the hunter looking to extend their season, especially the later deer seasons, I personally feel the T/C Impact represents a good balance of useable features and affordability.

Pistol Caliber Carbines, The Next Big Thing?

Pistol Caliber Carbines, The Next Big Thing?

Pistol caliber carbines are fun and cheap to shoot and it doesn’t hurt that they are chambered in 9mm Luger, one of the most popular centerfire round in the world. This makes them great companion carbine for shooters who already own a 9mm pistol.

An Automatic Mini-14: Ruger brings the A-Team with its AC-556 — Full Review

The AC-556 was based off the Mini-14. Ruger, Sturm& Co. introduced the Mini-14 in 1973, borrowing many of its design elements from both the M1 and the M14. Bill Ruger was interested in law enforcement and military sales, and to that end he released the GB (government bayonet) model. The GB offered a plethora of unique options.

A .50 BMG for Everyone: Serbu's Lightweight, Single-Shot RN-50 — Full Review

A .50 BMG for Everyone: Serbu’s Lightweight, Single-Shot RN-50 — Full Review

The .50 caliber in question was the RN-50 from Serbu Firearms, Inc. This Tampa, Florida based company is one that I have a great deal of respect for. The founder Mark Serbu is a mechanical engineer that is best know for producing the BFG-50: a .50 BMG caliber, single-shot rifle. Serbu Firearms produces high-quality firearms that are either: cool, unique affordable and specifically engineered to stick-it-to-the-man. The RN-50 accomplishes all four.

The German MP40 Versus the American M3A1 Grease Gun

The German MP40 Versus the American M3A1 Grease Gun

World War II changed most everything about planet earth. Society, culture, industry, and politics all underwent a seismic shift during this worldwide conflict that ultimately claimed 50 million souls. This most horrible of wars spilt rivers of blood. Previously gunmaking retained some modicum of art. Military weapons combined the machinist’s touch with the woodworker’s skill to produce weapons that were elegant, graceful, and expensive.

Thompson Center’s Strike: A Striker-Fired Muzzleloader — Full Review

The muzzleloader can be a freezer-saver; many states offer a special season after, or sometimes before, the regular rifle season, and there may even be an additional tag involved. I have had deer seasons where the centerfire rifle went unfired for the entire season, and the muzzleloader was relied on to put meat in the freezer.

DIY MK IIS Sten Gun: The Ultimate Vintage World War II Homebuilt

The wares at our local gun emporia are beginning to look a bit repetitive, my friends. There are AR15 variants for every taste, proclivity, and budget. The counters are awash to their gunwales in plastic pistols. There’s the obligatory smattering of scatterguns, precision rifles, and wheelguns, but that really is about it.

Auto Ordnance 9mm Tommy Gun — SHOT Show 2018

Auto Ordnance 9mm Tommy Gun — SHOT Show 2018

Most of us, at one point or another, have wanted a Tommy Gun. Among the iconic American weapons, it is a stand out just like the 1911 and the M16. Whether we grew up watching Al Capone movies or the Sands of Iwo Jima, this a weapon we remember from our youth. Unfortunately, full auto Chicago typewriters can fetch tens of thousands of dollars, and require that sticky special license. Fortunately, Auto Ordnance has been making civilian-legal versions for some time now.
