Description: Photo shows the first ever Franchi model 48 AL shotgun we’ve had with Benelli USA Import Stamp on it, and we commend Benelli for rescuing this fine little shotgun. Now, if we can only grow some birds in Tennessippi. The Franchi, of course, is a recoil operated takeoff on John M. Browning’s Light 12 / Light 20 series, but this one only weighs 5 pounds 10 ounces empty. Barrel is 24 inch Vent Rib, and it comes just the way we got it, with a 3 slash marked, .611 muzzle diameter Improved Cylinder Choke Tube. Extra choke tubes are readily available, and are the same threads as Benelli, Charles Daly, Mossberg International, and a whole host of Italian and Turkish made 20 gauge shotguns. Manufacturer is Luigi Franchi of Italy; importer is Benelli USA of Accokeek Maryland. Type is recoil operated semi-automatic shotgun. Caliber is 20 gauge, 2 3/4 inch shells only. This shotgun is Not capable of handling 3 inch shells; it was never designed for that anyway. Capacity is 4 + 1 rounds of 2 3/4 inch 20 gauge shells, and this Franchi does not have a 2 shot plug or adapter, so if someone in Tennessee, for instance, wants to hunt dove, ducks or crows, or any Federal Migratory Bird, it will need a magazine plug installed. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, magazine tube and internal parts mounted on a light weight alloy receiver whose finish is matching semi-gloss anodized. Buttstock and forend are cut checkered Italian Walnut, satin finish. Weight empty is an amazingly light 5 1/2 pounds, with center of gravity at the bolt release button. Length of pull on this specimen is 14 1/4 inches from the face of the smooth chrome plated trigger to the end of the thin factory butt pad. Overall length is just under 44 inches. This particular specimen was manufactured in 2004, if we correctly interpret the 05-03-04 section of its serial number. It does not have an Italian Date code like its Franchi / FIE Ancestors did. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint amounts of finish toning spots over the chamber area of the barrel as the photos will show; and one white streak on the left side of the receiver. Wood finish shows only a few small contact mars, none of which penetrate the finish in any significant way. We classify this Benelli Franchi 48AL as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent thoughout mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. From the absence of any wear to the bolt surface and to the bolt body, we estimate this 48 AL has been fired fewer than 200 times. Replacement pricing on Franchi USA’s site shows well over $800.00. We’re offering this very attractive, eminently serviceable Franchi 48 AL, however, for only $ 569.00. 2% discount if payment is by USPS Money Order & not credit card. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $20 flat fee lower 48 states; $60 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, UPS Ground with full insurance coverage. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
