Biden Blasted for Saying Guns in Church is ‘Irrational’

BELLEVUE, WA – Former Vice President Joe Biden deserves every brickbat being thrown in his direction in the aftermath of Sunday’s church shooting incident in Texas for declaring in September that the state’s new law allowing guns in churches is “irrational,” the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

But Biden should not be alone in the hot seat, said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb.

“The deafening silence from Biden’s fellow Democrats still in the presidential race is equally telling,” Gottlieb observed. “Not one of them has stepped forward to offer even faint praise for the courage of Jack Wilson, who used his legally-carried pistol to stop the shotgun-wielding killer from wreaking more havoc at the West Freeway Church of Christ.

“The gun control crowd has been predictably silent,” he continued, “because the use of firearms by private citizens in defense of themselves and others—especially a large crowd of worshippers in a church—just doesn’t fit the extremist gun control narrative.”

Sunday’s tragic incident was ended in six seconds after the gunman, identified as a man with a criminal record in at least three states, fatally shot two members of the church congregation. Wilson’s quick action and accuracy prevented further carnage.

“Within seconds,” Gottlieb noted, “video of the tragic incident revealed at least seven more church members with drawn guns carefully closing in on the downed killer. Their responsible use of firearms to defend their fellow congregants is exactly why Texas enacted its new laws. At the very least, Biden should apologize for his earlier criticism.

“Biden’s trash talk in September symbolizes everything wrong with his party’s increasing hostility toward law-abiding gun owners and the Second Amendment,” he said. “This year, we’ve already heard proposals for mandatory buybacks, registration and licensing, gun bans and Beto O’Rourke’s outright threat of confiscation. If anyone has been irrational, it’s Biden and his fellow Democrats for their demagoguery and anti-rights hysteria.

“What happened Sunday in Texas,” Gottlieb concluded, “reminded us all of individual heroism, and that actions always speak louder than words, and that brave people act while politicians pontificate.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms ( is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.

  • Hondo January 8, 2020, 9:01 am

Old creepy Joe should just go off into retirement , he’s beyond out of touch with reality.

  • Steven E Hedstrom January 6, 2020, 9:25 pm

Sleepy Now has lost touch with reality. Mr. Wilson is a hero who saved countless people. If every American carried a gun there would be a lot less mass shooting. Wake up you disillusioned Democrats.

  • Bones January 3, 2020, 6:21 pm

I think what sleepy joe means by irrational is …..christians with guns killing others (even for protection)is really an irrational thought and action because (the said thought and action) of revenge or killing is in DIRECT CONTRADICTION to beliefs and teachings of jesus and lessons in the new testament… meaning “ you should turn the other cheek” IF you are a real christian…..OR you are a FAKE christian …. MY guess is YALL ARE JUST FAKE CHRISTIANS.. talkin crap.. what you boys say?

Actually, think about it. You’re in church praying to whatever supreme being you happen to believe in that loves you, right. He, she (or it) is listening to you. Someone comes in to this ‘sanctuary’ to kill and you KNOW that there will be NO intervention by who you are worshipping. Yes you send thoughts and prayers for such not to happen. In this sense, guns in such a place IS IRRATIONAL!! Not rocket science. Guns in church prove that you’re worshipping to nothing.

    • Nathan January 3, 2020, 8:37 pm

Actually, the Israelites believed in God and did as he commanded, to rebuild the wall around the city with a trowel in one hand and a sword in the other, ready to defend themselves against the enemy that surrounded them. And you speak as one that would only believe if a mystical hand came down from heaven to save you, but you miss not only the armed citizen that God put in the right place at the right time, but the helpless, weak, and harmless baby in a manger that came down to save you as well. No, we carry a gun because it is our right to defend our families and our right to believe and worship, same as the founding fathers of our country, but we also believe in a God who may send fire from heaven, or an armed volunteer security officer to protect and deliver us. The faith of our forefathers is why you live in a country that has not yet succumbed to the sands of time but still, for a time, enjoys peace and prosperity. The faithless is why we are travelling faster and faster down a road toward destruction. Please don’t mock my right to bear arms or my faith again.

  • Ken January 3, 2020, 2:07 pm

Great excuse for not going to church… but when I do go… after extreme nagging from she who must be obeyed, I am always armed.

“Forgive me father for I am strapped…”

Anyway, I am a life long liberal democrat and at 72 I’ve been carrying since age 15 when I got crosswise with a real grown up gangster in Chicago.

No, it wasn’t legal then…. didn’t care. Wouldn’t care now. I am not going to risk getting whacked by some shithead just to obey your rules.

My right to life does not depend on any laws you pass… including the 2nd Amendment.

Biden should give up politics and go learn to program, but he’s not bright enough.

    • Steven E Hedstrom January 6, 2020, 9:38 pm

      Amen brother Nathan

  • Scott W January 3, 2020, 11:25 am

No Mr Biden, pro-abortion politicians claiming to be Roman Catholic are irrational.

  • Robert J. Lucas January 3, 2020, 10:34 am

Joe Biden is the the Malarkey! Just another lie posted on the side of his tour bus…

  • Michael Keim January 3, 2020, 9:54 am

    Biden is irrational and irrelevant

  • Jim Parker January 3, 2020, 4:27 am

The former VP should realize that his many previous comments about guns have been unhelpful to his political efforts and completely useless to others.

I’m almost as old as Joe and after being married/divorced several times I learned that it’s best to shut up if you don’t know what you’re talking about. Failing that you should apologize, early and often. At this point in Joe’s career it’s too late for him to change course.

Attempting to acommodate the increasingly fickle (and goofy?) Democrat voter today is pointless, and he has ZERO chance of attracting Independent or Republican voters. Prayer may be the best option for him under these circumstances. If somehow he happens to get elected the rest of us will need to pray, that’s for sure.

  • SeppW January 2, 2020, 1:43 pm

Biden’s got baggage and closets full of skeletons. He should keep his mouth shut.

Trump should Award Jack Wilson the Presidential Medal of Freedom. For His actions, what those actions represents as a whole, that exercising his Freedoms: Jack Wilson eliminated a lethal threat to others exercising their Religious Freedoms and saved many from death or serious injury.

Though Jack Wilson appears to be a humble man, what he did needs to be recognized on a National level for his selfless accomplishment and to promote it for the deterent value towards others considering such criminal acts of targeted violence.
