In the world of precision shooting, pushing the boundaries with hot rod sixes and speedy 22s like the 22 ARC has become quite the trend. Additionally, when you’re stretching your aim to 200, 300, or even 400 yards, hit indication can become a real headache.

However, indicators, which typically attach physically to the target, can be expensive, reaching a couple of hundred bucks. That is where Hornady enters the field with an affordable solution.

The Hornady HIT is a small cube housing an accelerometer that cleverly attaches to the target stand, not the target itself.

Therefore, using the target’s vibrations, it activates upon impact. Then it blinks out the Morse code for ‘hit.’ Ingenious, right? And the best part – it keeps itself mostly out of harm’s way.

The light attaches to the posts of the target.

Now, how much will it cost you? Well, these little lights are hitting the market at just around 10 bucks each. That’s right; for a mere ten dollars, you can enjoy hit indication without breaking the bank. They come in two-packs, ten-packs, and for the match directors out there hosting events, a 50-pack is even available.

Curious about its capabilities? According to Seth, they’ve put these indicators to the test, shooting them out to an impressive 1,200 yards with a 22 caliber. They said that it still lit up with no problem at all.

Utilizing a rubber strap, the HIT can mount to most common target posts

So, if you’re trying to avoid spending a fortune on hit indicators that put your wallet in the line of fire, Hornady’s got you covered.
