See It Far, Hit It Long: Meopta’s MeoPro Optika LR 10×42 Rangefinding Binoculars

The perfect combination for long-range shooting.

Meopta has just released a new rangefinding binocular: the MeoPro Optika LR. The HD fluoride glass and the premium European optics are the same quality that has made Meopta famous for 80 years.  Their new trick: a laser range that can quickly measure distance out to over 2,500 yards with an accuracy of +/- one yard.

I got an opportunity to use the MeoPro Optika LR 10×42 HD on the range and in the field scouting some deer hunting sites. It performed incredibly, especially in low light conditions. I was scouting at last light I was still able to use ambient light in near darkness.

When you are gathering data, the LR lets you record accurate range data and see your groups. This is a great time saver because you don’t have to measure range distances and you can see your groups with high visibility targets or steel.

The single most important factor in long-range shooting is establishing the range and angle to the target. At the end of the ballistic curve, bullets are coming down on the target at pretty extreme angles. This means that a small error in range can result in a complete miss.

With accurate range and angle data, your ballistic calculator can produce a precise aiming solution. Meopta gives you all that and the ability to identify your target and what is beyond with the MeoPro Optika LR.

I found the controls easy to use (two buttons and a focus knob). The programing is intuitive with both yards and meters.

The rubber armor makes the LR tough and drop safe. It is also waterproof and the MeoDrop hydrophobic coating sheds water from the lens. It is filled with inert Nitrogen gas to prevent internal fogging. All of this means a clear view, even in the most extreme weather conditions.

The LR lets you see what is out there and gives you an exact range to shoot. Now you have good information to establish your limits for an ethical shot.

In hunting, scouting and stalking are as important as shooting. The LR lets you see what is out there and gives you an exact range to shoot. There is no way a separate rangefinder could do that so seamlessly. Now you have good information to establish your limits for an ethical shot. You can pick out range markers for your position for improved awareness.

The MeoPro Optika LR 10×42 HD is a little pricy at $1,499.99. With optics, you get what you pay for. There are no compromises here and I am completely pleased with the LR’s performance and value.

With a tripod adapter, you could use it as a spotting scope. Perfect for an observer to call range settings and adjustments.

(February 11, 2021) Meopta is pleased to introduce the MeoPro Optika LR series.   Available in 10×42 HD and 8×50 HD models, these high-performance laser rangefinding binoculars quickly measure distance up to 2,600 yards and 2,950 yards, respectively.

The Optika LR’s premium European optics with HD fluoride glass and Meopta’s advanced MeoLux lens coating deliver exceptionally bright images in low light with maximum resolution and contrast.  Color fidelity is true throughout the entire field of view and the MeoDrop hydrophobic coating ensures a clear view, even in the most extreme weather conditions.

The fast and accurate integrated laser rangefinder features three modes: Auto – which provides continuous ranging of moving targets. Near Ranging – which ranges the closest object in the aiming circle, and Far Ranging – which ranges the farthest object in the aiming circle to ensure an accurate reading in situations where there may be objects in the foreground, such as tree limbs or tall grass, that could interfere with a less precisely calibrated rangefinder. The two distance modes offer an advantage to those who frequently hunt in varied terrains.  Incline data is also measured for accurate angle compensation in the field.

The illuminated OLED display can be set to yards or meters and features four levels of brightness control.   Display readings automatically shut off after 10 seconds to extend battery life. The Optika LR also features twist-up eyecups, dual diopter adjustments, and a low battery indicator.

The magnesium alloy body and rubber armoring make the Optika LR rugged enough for use in the most brutal terrain.  It is fully waterproof, shockproof, and its optical and mechanical performance is backed by Meopta’s Lifetime Transferrable Warranty.
