Sneak Peek: Alien Gear ShapeShift Modular Holster System – SHOT Show 2017

With a planned launch in the summer of 2017, it will fit 10 of the most common handguns. By the end of 2017, 40 different guns will be covered.

Overview

When I hear shape shifter, I think of the Star Trek Deep Space 9 TV series that ran from 1993–1999. The character Odo played by Rene Auberjonois could change into almost anything or anyone. It opened a world of possibilities for the show and how convenient it would be to change based on what you needed.

The Alien Gear ShapeShift is the Odo of holsters. It gives you one holster that will allow you to carry your gun in almost any way you want or need with one holster. The concept is a completely modular system. You buy a single scabbard for your gun and you can attach it to multiple mountings. Best of all, NO TOOLS REQUIRED!

It is claimed that there will be 11 different methods or locations are possible with the ShapeShift. These will include IWB /OWB, appendix, belt slide, paddle, drop thigh, ankle, shoulder, MOLLE and more.

The ShapeShift is planned to be adaptable to a wide range of carry modes and may replace all your other holsters.

The plan is by this summer you can buy a Starter Kit that will include two IWB holsters (Hip and Appendix) and two OWB holsters (Paddle and Slide). The other variants/locations will follow with all of them out by the end of the year.  The launch will fit 10 of the most common handguns. Other guns will be added so that by the end of 2017 40 different guns will be covered by the ShapeShift system.

I own boxes of holsters with different mounts but this will be something that no one else has ever created before. I can hardly wait to see if it lives up to the prototype I was shown. I have nothing to lose as it comes with the Alien Gear Holsters 30-Day test drive and their forever warranty. No word yet on MSRP. Keep an eye out for more information here as this story develops.

As a vet myself, I’ll play the Devils advocate here. I volunteered for the service. While I do thank those who offer a vets discount, I don’t expect one for my service. I did see combat and was wounded.
With that said, I have purchased an alien gear holster after trying many others. No one local had any of their stuff, but I really liked their options. So I bought one. And I’ll say, all my other holsters are now packed away other than the ones I’ve givendors away. As to this new Shapeshift setup, uh…duh…yeah…I’m buying it. Damn straight.

Alien Gear has no appreciation for U.S. veterans. I am a Gulf War Army veteran living on a fixed disability income. I was not wounded in combat, nor did I actually see “action”, I was a Patriot Missile Crewman. But my time of service did contribute to my decline in health, and subsequent disability. With that being said; I contacted Alien Gear, and conveyed both my desire to purchase a holster and financial circumstances. They were somewhat rude, not to say indifferent in the least! Most other holster makers out there have been more than generous; some more so then others, but Alien Gear is only concerned with one thing, and one thing only, $$$$$$$$$$!! So they can keep their price synthetic juke along with their over priced shipping fees!

Posted a somewhat negative review on one of Alien Gears holster I purchased. I posted a review on their website only to find out it wasn’t posted. If this is how you do business let it be known ” NOT ALL REVIEWS” are being allowed to be posted their picking only the positive reviews and are not allowing the truth to be told……”APPROACH WITH CAUTION” It sad to see companies do this if your not going to accept some criticism then don’t offer reviews. My question is how often this has been done to other negative reviews. According to the star rating on their review site it states 5 out of 5 go figure…………….Guess they think people don’t go back and check to see if their review was posted or not….Wasn’t a bad product, material was of good quality but there is room for improvement is all I said…..Thanks GUNSAMERICA for letting me get this out there.
