Could nationwide concealed carry reciprocity finally be gaining momentum? President Donald Trump certainly gave gun owners reason for optimism this week.
Speaking at a rally Tuesday at the Mack Trucks facility in Macungie, Pennsylvania, Trump was joined by NRA President Bill Bachenberg when the conversation turned to one of the biggest priorities in the gun-rights world: national right-to-carry legislation.
According to reporting by American Rifleman, Bachenberg asked Trump whether he supports nationwide carry reciprocity.
The crowd’s response came before Trump could finish the question.
How do you feel about national right to carry?” Trump asked.

The audience erupted in cheers.
“That’s my free poll,” Trump joked. “You know what that is? That’s a free poll. I don’t have to pay $300,000 to somebody that doesn’t even do polling… National right to carry… Yeah, we’re working on it.”
That simple statement immediately grabbed the attention of 2A advocates.
Trump also praised the NRA for its longtime support, telling the crowd the organization has stood by him “right from the beginning.”
They always give me their endorsement because I saved the Second Amendment,” Trump said. “You think it’s easy? On occasion, it was not easy.”
For supporters of national reciprocity, Trump’s comments represent another public commitment to legislation that has been discussed for years.
As American Rifleman noted, Trump previously said during an Oval Office interview in 2020 that he would sign a national reciprocity bill if one reached his desk.

The legislation receiving the most attention remains the NRA-backed Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R. 38 and S. 65). If enacted, the bill would allow people with valid concealed carry permits (or residents of constitutional carry states) to carry concealed firearms in other states where concealed carry is legal.
Supporters argue it’s a simple extension of constitutional rights.
After all, your First Amendment rights don’t disappear when you cross a state line. Neither do your Fourth or Fifth Amendment protections.
Many of us ask why the Second Amendment should be treated differently.
The Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed that law-abiding Americans have an individual right to keep and bear arms through decisions like Heller, McDonald, and Bruen. Even so, concealed carry laws still vary dramatically from state to state, leaving travelers to navigate a patchwork of regulations.

Whether Congress can gather enough votes to move national reciprocity remains an open question.
But if Trump’s comments are any indication, the administration appears interested in trying.
For millions of gun owners who have long supported nationwide reciprocity, hearing the president say “we’re working on it” was likely the most encouraging part of the speech.

It has less chance of passing that a snowball surviving in Hell. In the first place every state has its own requirements for carrying a gun either concealed or open carry and no one travelling would qualify in most of those states to carry. There is no way the States will give this right up on either the Far Right or the Far Left.
In reality one of the reasons the States joined the Federal Government was because the Feds told them they had the right to form their own militia’s to murder slaves if they revolted (the real meaning of the Second Amendment as it had zero to do with an individuals right to own a firearm, see the book “The Second Amendment” by Carrol Anderson”), in fact some States even confiscated guns from people who did not tow “the party line” further proving that the 2nd was over the right to form a State Militia which not only enabled them to murder slaves but protect themselves from the Federal Government overreach pertaining to a variety of other laws.
It is true the conniving Founders deliberately wrote 2A in the vaguest of terms so they fooled a lot of people into believing the individual had a right to own a firearm but it also left the Courts the right to “regulate” firearms as clarified and codified much later in time with the Scalia Decision which was at first hailed by the Morons on the Far Right not realizing they actually lost more than they gained.
After being suckered into joining the Union over time the National Guard was “Federalized” and the Feds declared that States rights over gun laws were ended. Doubt my word? There was recently even talk in one State of making and selling machine guns to the public which went over like a lead balloon with the Feds who of course control all of the money grants to States for highway maintenance, education, and dozens of other Social Programs. After that there was suddenly no State chest thumping on full auto sales. In other words rather than the Feds starting a Constitutional crisis over whether the States or the Feds had supreme authority over gun laws the Feds simply threatened to pull Federal money from the States and that was the end of that foolishness over full auto sales.
Despite all of this the Blue States which have traditionally pushed for tough gun laws to keep criminals and lunatics and interactionalists from easily obtaining firearms on the used gun market versus the Red States who want zero gun laws because they do not care how many innocent people get slaughtered every year, the last count averaging each year about 45,000 people who the Far Right Consider simply expendable on the depraved altar of zero gun control.
Neither side really wants to create a Constitutional crisis over the right to carry a weapon while crossing state lines.
National Reciprocity is dead in the water before it even leaves the boat dock.
And I might add the Feds never give up absolute power over you from the Far Right or from the Far Left if they can get away with it. They rule from the city of Stratus located high up in the clouds as they look down on the worker troglodyte slaves who are the only ones that actually have to pay taxes, not the super rich who insult of insults go so far as to even steal the workers tax money in the form of Corporate Subsidies (Corporate Welfare) and pay zero taxes to boot as when Amazon makes 2 billion and pays zero taxes. It has been estimated that if the Super Corporations paid taxes Social Security Wages could be doubled and the fund be solvent for another 50 years.
If President Eisenhower were still alive today (who by the way taxed the hell out of the super rich) he would be labeled a RINO today and loathed by the Far Right. This is how depraved the Far Right has become.
And after the upcoming Mid-terms Herr Drumpf (The Donald) has pissed so many people off, even including his glazed eyed Maga Morons that he will become a lame duck President even if he survives imprisonment over the next 2 years.

Being a long time gunner I have been asking for National CC since I was 24, and in my 50 years of asking, Nothing Has Happened. Now we might have a chance with Trump, The Chumb but do not hold your breath. Over the last 50 years I have CC and actually paid to play in SD when they first brought out The CC Permit about 45 years ago, and yes there was a back ground check which I did not mind. Today I do worry a little more as there are a lot more people on our Earth, and a lot more nut jobs, but who am I to judge!

People in Western Europe who are unskilled labor makes more money per hour and get both double and triple time on holidays and weekend work. Something almost now extinct in the U.S. In France Sunday work is allowed near Paris and is now paying $33.00 an hour for unskilled labor. Try and get Walmart to pay you that for Sunday work.
The average holidays in Europe are 1 month of holidays and a newly hired employee immediately gets 4 weeks vacation and in Japan it is 6 weeks vacation and with seniority vacation time is 3 months while here in Capitalvania many people get no paid holidays off and no vacation time they are worker troglodyte slaves.
Crime and mass murder are a fraction of what they are in the U.S. because of tough gun laws in Europe and Asia and by the way some of those countries actually have full auto ownership of new made weapons that was outlawed by your former living God President Reagan a Republican.
People retire sooner in Europe and and in some of the Asian Countries and get much higher Social Security benefits besides their survivors getting a lump sum balance of their left over Social Security money when they die as opposed to having it stolen by the government as is done in the U.S. of Capitalvania
Education is largely paid for in Europe including college and technical school. Here in Capitalvania students go bankrupt for life after being ripped off while in college with tuition so obscene it would make Al Capone an amateur if he was still living.
Health care is paid for in the civilized countries and no one goes bankrupt or dies like a dog in the street because he cannot afford life saving drugs or a needed operation.
Gun massacres and homicides are just a fraction of what they are in the U.S. because civilized countries have tough gun laws that keep guns for the most part out of the hands of criminals and lunatics. I could give you dozens of incidents in Europe which were stopped before they started because of tough gun laws. In the U.S. where 45,000 people a year are gunned downed are considered expendable by the depraved Far Right who actually want zero gun laws. These Far Right Lunatics are actually that insane. No where in the civilized world can you buy deadly second hand weapons with zero paperwork, just give me the cash pal and the weapon is yours no questions asked.
In Europe a naturalized citizen has “full rights” while here in Capitalvania he remains a second class citizen. He cannot run for President.
In Europe leaders are elected by the majority or the elections is held over and no they do not have mob rule as their courts uphold their constitutional rights of everyone including minorities. In some European countries you can vote from your computer and all have mail in voting now being threatened by the Jackboot Herr Drumpf (The Donald) who is now doing everything possible to prevent as many people as possible from voting in the up coming mid terms. He is trying to end mail in voting, has already pulled drop off boxes so people have to drive as far as 100 miles to vote, has closed poling places in working class districts and reduced the number of mail sorting machines to hold up mail in votes so they are not delivered in time to be counted in the election. Herr Drumpf ( original German family name) has stated he was a great admirer of Adolf Hitler and one of his wives revealed he for years kept a copy of Mein Kampf at his bedside.
The U.S. now spends more money on the Military Industrial Complex (President Eisenhower warned us about) than all that is spent by China, Russia, and North Korea. We have Jackboots now occupying over 55 countries in the world and counting. Herr Drumpf has stated before he leaves office Cuba, Venezuela and Greenland are now on his hit list. Greenland is part of NATO which means the U.S. would be invading a fellow NATO Country which is about insane as you can get, especially since Greenland lets us do about anything we want in their country. The number of countries now occupied dwarf the countries Nazi Germany occupied. All this is why we have no paid for Health Care or paid for Education.
One of the few times I agreed with Trump was when he said the European Counties have cradle to grave security because they pay so little for their own defense because we are paying it for them. Too their credit they are now spending a lot more on defense and giving a lot more weapons to the Ukraine because unlike the idiot Trump they realize how dangerous the mad man Putin is to all of Europe.

National reciprocity, sounds good at first. But I don’t think it is a good idea. One, what is given can be taken away. Two, representives from CA IL or other states might be able to impose “hard” standards. Want a national CCW, fine you must put 10 shots in 10 seconds into 5 inches at 100yds. I live in Missouri, and other states don’t have ANY say in my gun rights. I want to keep it that way!!
I have to agree… I rarely leave my State anyway and when I do, 99% of the time it’s in another red state that my CCW is honored in, so it really doesn’t affect me. As you stated though, it does however open up the liberal vote in daying what I can and can’t do if I do visit there. We’ll eventually need a college degree in knowing where you can carry, what you can carry and what laws govern you as soon as you step into a State.
I don’t know about 100 yards but I certainly agree with all people should have to pass a shooting test before being handed a license. Imagine what our roads would be like if we didn’t give the Chinese a driving test before giving them a license lol.
