Listed for sale is an 1863 Sharps Carbine Conversion. Rifle converted in 1867 to 1868 by Springfield Armory to the new 50-70 government cartridge.

Rifle looks to have either not been issued or if issued carried lightly for a short time, then stored.  Blueing on barrel mostly intact.  Front sight unworn.  Receiver case coloring mottled grey.  Stock is virtually unmarked, meaning dings, dents or scratches.  There is one light small scratch just across the Cartouche.  Stock has one factory "DFC" Cartouche placed in center middle left of buttstock.  Few small marks around screw on fore end wood.  I THINK there is a small spot of extremely light putting near muzzle end exterior.  Otherwise, metal not pitted or rusted.  Barrel shiny, good rifling.  Has pitting in few scattered places near breech.  Barrel original stamps in front of sight mostly gone.  SHARPS NEW MODEL 1863 stamp behind rear sight visible with exception of the final number 3.  I have fired this rifle.  Fires extremely well.
