Applying their years of expertise with combat handguns, their flair for style, and ideas from world-class 1911 custom shops, Sig has crafted the 1911R as a premium, full-featured, accurate, dependable, and attractive .45 “government model” at a reasonable price.
This Sig 1911R reflects decades of refinement while still remaining true to Browning's original design. The gun is all stainless steel--barrel, slide, and frame, the last two finished with Sig's rock-hard, Nitron (blackened stainless) treatment. Machined to fine tolerances, the slide and frame are hand fitted to ensure accuracy and reliability (lockup is tight!). Internally, the gun is classic 1911A1, complete with barrel bushing, standard recoil plug, and traditional-length recoil-spring guide. No tools are necessary for take down. Premium internal parts, including a match grade barrel, hammer/sear/rigger set, and the externally mounted extractor are part of the factory performance package. The grip-safety speed bump, and wide ejection port are performance enhancements. The checkered mainspring housing and front strap, 20- and 25-LPI, resp, and distinctive Redwood grips guarantee sure handling. The 2 8-rd mags have stainless bodies, metal followers and cushioned floor plates.
