Vintage Firearms Inc is pleased to offer this Springfield M1D Garand Battle rifle. This rifle is serial numbered 1686975 and was manufactured in 1943. It features a Lead dipped heal and 99% Parkerizing on the barrel and receiver. The bore is mirror clean with perfect rifling; the barrel is of 1950 Springfield manufacture- considered to be some of the most accurate barrels. Including the scope and accessories, the gun weighs 12lbs. 15oz and shows straight grain and as such matches the National Match specifications has described in ‘A collectors guide to The M1 Garand and The M1 Carbine’, by Bruce Canfield which stipulates heavy wood and a bedded action be used in National Match production. The trigger is exceptional, there is the initial two stage take up then a crisp break at 5.5lbs with no over travel. This is a rifle that has been built to shoot accurately! The rifle has a leather cheekpiece and correct M84 scope with original scope mounts. Accessories include a leather sling marked MRT plus a period correct canvas alternative.
