This listing is for the exact pistol in the photos. Here is Smith & Wesson's original incursion into Glock Territory, the Sigma Series Center Fire Pistol, numbered model SW9F, product Code #120006, in steel and polymer. Production on this variant only ran from 1996 to 1998. From this one’s PAD serial number prefix, it is from the first year of production. It comes to us from foreign service, attest its reimport stamp on the left side slide. Type is striker fired, double action only, locked breech semi automatic pistol. Chambering is 9mm Parabellum. Construction is steel barrel, slide, magazine body, and internal parts assembled into a steel reinforced polymer frame. Slide has serrated rear laterals and full length return spring rod. Barrel is heavy type one piece, 5 groove right hand 1:18.75 rifling. Sights are black polymer 3 dot type, stake on Front Night Sight with dovetailed rear that is drift adjustable for windage only. We know the Night Sight is new because we put it on. Trigger is two piece .350 smooth faced polymer, pulls at a consistent 8 pounds. The SW9F has a trigger safety and firing pin safety. It does not have any lever safety. Magazine is an original factory steel bodied 16 rounder, 16 + 1 fully loaded capacity. Magazine release is right hand shooter, non reversable. Frame is Not rail type. Weight empty is 24.3 ounces. Overall length is 7 1/4 inches by 5 1/2 inch height. Slide thickness is 1.0 inch at the ejection port, with 1.16 inches adjacent frame thickness. Finish is black melonite slide, matte stainless barrel, blued levers, and stippled surface black polymer. Surface detractions are moderate, principally scouring on the frame. We rate this pistol to be in Very Good Condition, 80 to 85 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. The SW9F and its descendants, currently the SD9, have consistently yielded Smith & Wesson quality and performance at a very attractive price.
