Description: This listing is for the exact shotgun in the photos. C&R Licenses are acceptable, since it is 70 years old. From its home domicile in Northeast Mississippi comes this very attractive Savage Single Shot. Manufacturer was Savage Arms of Chicopee Falls, Mass., so marked on the left side receiver. From its B date code, it was manufactured in 1950. The 219 and 220 series shotguns and rifles were not serialized until 1968. The series ran from 1937 until 1973. Barrel is stamped K, so possibly a 1959 barrel on a slightly older receiver. Type is internal hammer, breech lever and tang safety single shot shotgun. Construction is steel barrel, screws, internal parts, trigger, and hammer, all built into a steel receiver with an alloy trigger guard. Buttstock and forend are American Walnut. Barrel is 26 inch, with standard smooth bore and .3625 Muzzle Extra Full Fixed Choke. This shotgun is NOT designed for steel shot or rifled slugs. Steel shot will damage the barrel on the first shot, if anyone is stupid enough to try it. Sight is threaded alloy bead front, with fixed notch rear in the receiver. Chambering is .410 gauge, 2 1/2 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Barrel is ejector type, propels the spent hull strongly to the rear and into the operator’s face if not careful. Trigger is .195 smooth faced. Ignition is spring loaded floating firing pin, with internal transfer bar and tang safey. Trigger pull is 7 pounds, with minimal felt creep and moderate overtravel. Breech lever motion cocks the hammer, sets the sear, and re-engages the safety, so this is no youth gun by any stretch. Buttstock length of pull is 13 5/8 inches, with 1 1/2 by 2 3/8 drop at the comb and heel. Buttstock is straight, no right hand cast, so with exception of the rightie-friendly breech lever, this shotgun is somewhat southpaw friendly. Note that the buttplate’s heel overreaches the stock’s about 1/16. Stock may have been shortened, then, by 3/4 inch or so at some point. Overall length is 41 3/8 inches, with a weight of 5 pounds centered at the chamber. Finish is the original brushed surface blued barrel, trigger, and lever; case colored receiver; anodized alloy guard and safety; and semi gloss walnut. Surface detractions are moderate, principally dulling to the case color and wear to the guard and safety. We rate this shotgun as Very Good Condition, 80 percent by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate it has been fired fewer than 300 times in its career. We're offering the Truman Era 220A in the photos for only $ 289.00. Definitely C&R Eligible. >>> (California) WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
