SxS, S/N 279212 scalloped box lock with double intercepting sears, sideclips, 6lb 2oz, 28 barrels, I & F, LOP 13 3/4” to front trigger, This high end Sauer is barrel stamped imported by Abercrombie & Fitch, probably in the 50’s but I may be off on that not having access to Serial# data on Sauers. I have owned it since the mid 90’s, my preferred grouse gun for over 20 years. The barrels are perfect, trigger pulls perfect, ejectors perfect. The interior parts are polished and screws timed like a fine Swiss watch. It is a delight in all respects. Unlike most A&D boxlocks, on this Sauer it is very easy to remove the bottom plate and top lever. No troublesome leaf spring compressions required. Beautiful design. The original stock was shortened before I bought it and a pad has been added. I’m an average guy, 5’8” and with a shooting vest on the LOP is fine. I had a piece of exhibition English walnut partially turned for a new stock but never managed to finish the project. That will be fun for the next owner. I’m 72 and hunting days are limited so it’s time for this awesome double to pass into younger hands. It would be a great bird gun for a female, light weight and wonderful to carry in the field. It comes in a leather trunk case with rosewood rod, cleaning accessories, snap caps, fitted bits for top and bottom screws etc. I have sold most of my quality collection to happy GunsAmerica members.
