At last, here is an 870 barrel that’s almost long enough. From a factory sale comes this brand new Remington Barrel for the venerable Remington 870 Pump Shotgun chambered in 12 gauge. Manufacturer is Remington Arms of Ilion, New York. Factory number is 24589. Construction is entirely matte blued steel, with stainless Rem-Choke® choke tubes. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch, 3 inch, and 3 1/2 inch shells interchangeably. Not all 870s will eject 3 inch or 3 1/2 inch shells, of course. Barrel is 30 inches from chamber mouth to muzzle; forward lug face will sit 11 1/8 inches forward of the shotgun’s receiver, and fit on a standard 12 inch magazine tube, which excludes the briefly produced 870 Special Field. Sight system is a 12 post, .290 wide, lateral serration ventilated rib, .26 inch above the barrel at the lug. Choke system is factory stainless Rem-choke®, and Remington is its own choke with its own threads, and will not interchange with any other choke thread. It comes furnished with its original tubes .708 muzzle Modified. We are including a .718 muzzle extended stainless factory Sporting Improved Cylinder tube, a $30 value. Finish is Express matte blue. Each barrel comes in its factory display container, with factory box and Mickey Mouse type choke wrench. This barrel will fit any Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun EXCEPT the 870 Special Field, manufactured from 1984 until 1990, and whose magazine tube measured 9 inches. It will fit, and allow ejection of 2 3/4 inch spent hulls from any other Remington 870, 12 gauge shotgun with a 12 inch magazine tube manufactured since production began in 1951. It will eject 3 inch hulls only from 870 shotguns with the word Magnum written on their side, or from the Sportsman 12 pumps manufactured from 1984 until 1986. It will eject 3 1/2 inch spent hulls only from 870 shotguns with the words, Super Mag written on their receiver.
