It was originally issued to an Australian soldier, but he sold it to an American G.I. (Rob Roy Logan 1) in the 57th Engineer Battalion of the US Army. It was carried through the liberation of the Philippines and in occupied Japan. It then returned to the States where it was carried by its owner as a surveyor, civil engineer, rancher and sometime deputy sheriff in Carbon County, Wyoming. This S&W retains about 60% of its Parkerized finish, is mechanically sound with very good bore, and has original wood grips numbered to the gun. The grips carry the hand applied monogram of Logan, and sports a cut away trigger guard for quick use when he carried it in the Pacific Theatre. The holster holding the gun is its original carry holster, stateside. It is marked "SHELTON-PAYNE ARMS Co. MAKERS, EL PASO, TEX." Copies of a letter from Logan's daughter, photos and discharge papers accompany this real piece of WWII and western history. (C&R OK.)
