However, letter states that "serial number applied on February 14, 1901". At the start of year 1898 serial numbers were already at 111454, according to Winchester dates of manufacture. Overall, rifle is in excellent condition. It has an octagon barrel, .30-.30 caliber, with 1/2 magazine. All wood, stock & forearm, is without any defects, in excellent condition. It has a checkered forearm and pistol grip stock. Hammer, lever, trigger, forearm tip, and crescent butt plate are case hardened & with good coloring. Can send additional pictures on request.
