Here is Mossberg International’s crowning achievement, the Silver Reserve Sporting Over and Under Shotgun. It demonstrates the expertise of Turkish Gunmakers. Manufacturer is Kayhan Art, or Khan, of Konya, Republic of Turkey. Importer and warrantor is Mossberg International of Eagle Pass, Texas. Type is box lock sporting over and under shotgun. Construction is entirely steel metal with exception of the alloy trigger guard, forend pacer, and forend lock face. Buttstock and forend are select Turkish Walnut. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Barrels are ventilated spacer 32 inch, with 20 lateral ports on each side, behind the muzzle threads. They are threaded for Beretta and Benelli tubes, and comes furnished with chrome plated 3 slash .705 Modified and 4 slash .715 Improved Cylinder Tubes. Sight system is 8 post .470 serrated top ventilated rib, .400 above the barrel at midsection, with steel housed red fiber optic front and stainless midsection bead. Ejection system is split ejectors, with mechanical barrel transfer. Trigger is .285 smooth faced steel, and safety is tang type with lateral position barrel selector. Trigger pull is 8 pound vicinity with moderate felt creep and overtravel. Forend is semi schnabel type with checkered lateral panels. Buttstock has checkered laterals on its pistol grip with a right hand palm swell. Buttstock is straight trap type, 1 1/4 inch drop at the comb and 1 1/2 inches at the butt. It has a 1 inch right hand cant, so this is not a southpaw friendly shotgun. Length of pull is 14 1/2 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 1 inch recoil pad. Weight empty is 8 pounds 15 ounces with center of gravity 1 inch forward of the receiver. Finish is blued barrels, includes their mating lugs. Receiver, trigger, and forend release lever are nickel plated, with full coverage lateral and lower engraving, including the Mossberg M. Black anodized alloy forend spacer and trigger guard have engraving on their lower centers. Walnut is satin finish. This shotgun comes to us through Mossberg’s distribution system. We call it a demo. It likely served as a showgirl with Mossberg’s sales force at venues like the annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas. Surface detractions are minimal to negligible; all we see is operation buffing on the tang, and a pressure mark on the edge of the pistol grip. We rate it as Excellent, 95 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, threads, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. If this shotgun has been fired, it was fewer than 50 times. It comes in a relabeled factory box with protective paper, trigger lock, and instruction manual that includes Mossberg’s warranty statement, one year for a silver reserve.
