The left side of the barrel is marked with “V P (Eagle head) P", top of barrel with an "A", top strap marked with a "U" on left side, front strap has a "U" on the right side, right side action plate marked "US Springfield" with Eagle Crest, and the trapdoor is marked with "U.S. MODEL 1884" and the serial number is on the top of the action. The rear of the stock on this rifle shows many handling marks and if refinished would make a great example of the Springfield 1884 Trapdoor. Ask for detailed photos before purchase.
