(what I can see of the bores looks dark). The wood is excellent with no cracks or chips however the gun has lots of dents and dings from over 100 years use (see photos). Metal finish is a mottled brown patina with some oxidation and the side plate, barrel band and heavy butt cap and back strap appear to be brass (see photos). Very neat old wood carved ram rod (see photos). This pistol has a strong hammer spring, new musket nipple and functions perfectly including half cock. At the sale they said this pistol was called a Sea Service pistol (see photo of doc. that came with the gun) and was issued by the British navy however I have no way to authenticate this therefore I am offering it with a 100% satisfaction guarantee, if it does not live up to your expectations in any way return it for a full and speedy refund including your return shipping (see my feedback).
