It has conservatively 50% of its original blue finish and a mirror bright bore with strong rifling. It is .38 WCF (.38-40), has a scarce half octagon barrel, and judging from the blue on the upper tang, has had the Lyman No. 1 Combination tang peep sight on it for a long time. The gun is completely original except for the Marbles No. 3 brass beaded front sight which is a later replacement. The stocks are generally solid, though there is a split in the fore stock on the top left side which runs back about 1.5" from the forend cap. The stocks appear to have been oiled or waxed from time to time. The gun was shipped in 1887, so it is an ANTIQUE and requires no FFL. All in all this is a fine collector gun which should also be a great shooter!
