The Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum needs little introduction when hearing the quote from Dirty Harry Callahan… “ I know what you are thinking…did he fire 6 shots or was it only 5? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kinda lost track myself. But being that this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well do ya, punk?” Everybody remembers that scene from the first iconic Dirty Harry movie. Today we know there are a few more powerful handguns, but the pre-Model 29 .44 Magnum is still highly sought after by shooters and collectors alike. This fine Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum, snS172731 built in 1957, is configured with the most desirable features, ie. 5-screw frame and 6 ½” pinned barrel with the original Goncola Alves “coke bottle” grips. This revolver is in perfect mechanical condition and retains over 98% of the original factory finish with just a little muzzle wear, a noticeable drag line on the cylinder, and a small scratch on the left side above the trigger. The bore is crisp and perfect mirror shiny. The pre-29 came standard with the ½” target hammer and trigger, both of which retain 99% of the factory case color. Our photos show the gun clearly so you can judge the condition and value from the photos as well. We do our best to let you see the gun clearly before you commit. You will notice in the photos that the gun comes with two sets of wood grips; the original grips and a set of nicely carved grips with a thumb rest on the left side that fit the gun just right. We have priced this one quite fairly and this is a gun that has enough condition and zero excuses to make it a collectible gun that will appreciate in value over time. The gun shows just enough wear that you won’t feel bad shooting it with either full-power defensive or hunting .44 Magnum loads, or the more pleasant and mild .44 Special ammunition. The gun is safe to fire with either cartridge. This is a handgun that you can hunt deer with in most all states as well, so it is a very versatile purchase. Thanks for looking!
