See photos for matching everything. In the years after World War II, the British produced the No. 4 Mk 2 (Arabic numerals replaced Roman numerals for official designations in 1944) rifle. The Mk 2 is a refined and improved No. 4 rifle with the trigger hung forward from the butt collar and not from the trigger guard making this rifle much more accurate on target with improved trigger pull. As you can see, the beech wood stock has beautiful highlights of unusual nature. Those bright spots are not bumps but color changes. For the Mk 2, the original reinforcing strap and center piece of wood in the rear of the forestock on the No.4 Mk I/Mk I* was removed in favor of a more substantial tie screw and nut. Finally, the Mk2 has a brass buttplate rather than the “gunmetal” buttplates. The barrel is bright and strong. The bayonet is No.9 Mk 1- standard for these Fazakerley rifles. Note- the sling is date appropriate- 1953. To go along with the improved accuracy of this model, the rear sight is the Mk 1 micro design.
