Japanese Arisaka 30 bolt action training rifle with no "mum". This appears to have been used for training by Otaru Municipal School. This is a Koishikawa made rifle that was manufactured circa 1,. It has a hook style safety,and a serial number of 70XX. It is C&R eligible and used condition. Mag spring appears to have been disabled possibly for firing blanks. Approximately 10,000 of these were the rifle has been converted to smooth-bore (no rifling) for training. Has a dark unrifled bore and all matching numbers. Stock appears in good shape and and metal shows some wear. Overall,pretty neat for it's age,would make a wall hanger. Or would make a great addition to a Japanese or WW1-or WW2 era military collection as the Original Type 30”s with matching numbers are getting harder to find.
