Originally developed as a joint venture between Switzerland's SIG and Germany's JP Sauer & Sohn to replace the Swiss service pistol, Sig P2xx series pistols are today generally regarded by top-notch law enforcement agencies, as the most accurate, simple, and easy-to-maintain side arms available. Professionals who carry them especially appreciate their straight forward operating system, simple takedown, and bold sight system. The recently introduced P224 is a scaled down version of the P229, the compact workhorse of the line. The P224 shortens the P229's barrel length and upper slightly to 3.5” and retains the double-stack mag, but this new chunky powerhouse has a grip frame that is 1” shorter than the P229, resulting in a professional-grade, P-series subcompact with a total capacity of 13 rounds. Added to the P224's basic features are the new "Short Reset" trigger system, which vastly speeds up follow up shots and the ability to seat 15-round P229 mags. This specimen is built with typical SIG type controls, including a US-style magazine release conventionally positioned behind the trigger. The pistol has a standard Browning short, recoil operated, locked breech action with trouble free barrel lock-up at the top of the ejection port. This system is often emulated but seldom perfected to achieve the rock-solid barrel lock up and resulting accuracy that is the hall mark of all Sig pistols. Sig's unique frame mounted quick swipe decocker is mounted in its standard position on the left side of the frame behind the smooth combat "short reset" trigger. The only other control is a slide catch mounted in its classic Sig rear position on the left of the frame. Take down can be accomplished in under 10 seconds via a simple lever mounted in front of and above the trigger. Finish on this P224 Extreme is a uniform matte black which complements the dark gray Hogue G-10 grips. Each of the black 2 SIG brand magazines holds 12 rounds and is very solidly built.

--Hogue G-10 Extreme Pirhana Grips--This design gives you the mag well extension required for quick mag changes and expands P224 capacity to a full 12+1 rounds (15 + 1 if P229-1 mags are used). Manufactured from sturdy but lightweight G10 synthetic, these grips have a gray “laminate” finish. Hogue's Chain Link texture offers excellent retention under any conditions.
