MODEL 1860 STAFF & FIELD OFFICER'S SWORD – INDIAN WARS ERA Non-Guns > Knives/Swords > Military > Non-Bayonets
Description: A very nice solid condition model of 1860 Staff and Field Officer's sword, made by Ames and sold by the CONTINENTAL CLOTHING HOUSE located in Boston, Mass. The Continental Clothing House was established in 1873, and this particular sword probably dates to the mid/late 1880's/1890's.

The blade is not decorated and is of a particularly nice form and weight with a medial ridge rather than the flattened oval section usually encountered with these swords.

The leather covered grip is in very nice condition and the rope brass wrap about the grip is complete and in fine condition.

The blade shows darkened areas, but no rust and the scabbard is in very decent condition with slight flaking of the chromed finish in a few spots.

The grip and all it's parts are tight, all fittings are in decent condition.

Overall a really nice example.
