I know absolutely nothing about antique canteens but at the sale they said this canteen was Civil War era but I have no way to prove that. Although I don't know what era it comes from the canteen is obvisouly old and is in excellent condtion with no damage (other than some staining) to the cover, The metal lid is in good condition as are the strap rings.
