Early ones, like #5456, were made only as Take Downs, with an integral ramped front sight base. Townsend Whalen style shotgun butts are standard. They were separately numbered for a while and later some were numbered in the 1894 range while others were still separately numbered. The barrel has about 90% blue while the frame has very little blue. Only about 20,000 of these interesting rifles were ever made and most collectors have never seen one, except in pictures.
