LOP 13 5/8" ... The barrel retains 90% of a matte blue showing a few light blemishes and the action is coin finished displaying some dulling from age. The barrel is marked “Rudolph Kostelecky Pensacola, FL” closer to the breech, the caliber is stamped, all in small block letters. The action is embellished with rose bud and leafy borders and cross hatched top receiver rings and the magazine floorplate is engraved with a bugling elk in habitat surrounded by foliate and acanthus leaf engraving with shaded background and this pattern is carried over on to the triggerguard and its front extension. The floorplate is coin finished and the remaining metal is a bright dark blue. The Monte Carlo pistolgrip stock rates very good exhibiting a few scattered scratches and dings over a strong polished oil finish and having crisp very fine checkering displaying a couple of sparse impact marks. The stock is carved with a sculpted schnabel tip, a European style rectangular beaded and fluted right hand cheekpiece, a fluted comb tip, and a nice little carved flute in back of the grip. It has a hard rubber gripcap with white spacer and there is a black rubber recoil pad installed over three alternating ebony and white spacers providing a length of 13 5/8". The gun features a ramp mounted blade front sight, a single standing rear sight, and a Pecar 4 x 10 scope with thin crosshair reticle and clear optics mounted in claw mounts. In addition, there are double set triggers, a tang safety used when the trigger is set, low-scope safety mounted on the right side and sling rings are affixed to the toeline of the stock and under the barrel just ahead of the forend. Rubber scope covers are included. Kostelecky ran “Rudy’s Gun Shop” and was a talented rifle builder and machinist. A very neat quality rifle in a classic caliber.
