A Beretta 84 / Browning BDA Magazine will fit into an old model Bersa 85 pistol, and we cut these neatly to match the Bersa’s magazine release. The magazine safety lug, however, the small protrusion on the upper right side of this magazine that engages the mag safety spring, is not positioned correctly for the Bersa. We had to mill down the first detent and then drill and add a second, differently positioned detent ball to the left of the first one. These magazines are still functional, but they will NOT lock the slide open on the last shot when they fire dry. Original Manufacturer is Mec-Gar s.r.l. of Brescia, Italy; importer is Mec-Gar USA of Meriden, CT. Mec-Gar, of course, manufactures all the factory magazines that issue with the pistols themselves. They will not, we imagine, honor any warranty on these modified magazines. Construction is heat treated carbon steel body and spring stop, music wire spring, and high impact tough lubed polymer floorplate and cartridge follower. Backs are welded and smooth milled, with bright blue finish. Body has three round count ports on its left side. Each magazine holds 13 rounds of .380 ACP caliber ammunition. They will fit, and work correctly in, any Browning BDA, or Beretta 84 without engaging the Beretta’s magazine safety. They will NOT lock the slide open on the last shot, but we have confidence in these magazine's service, so long as the operator can count to 13 or 14. They have been modified so that they only fit the Bersa 85 and 86 model pistols. They will not work in any other pistol.
