This gun, a FE Special Grade in 28ga., snF205879, is one of those unique guns with lots of extra gold inlaid animals, including 3 flushing quail on the bottom of the receiver, and a fine pointer in a gold wire vignette on the trigger guard, a special order skeleton buttplate, exhibition wood, single selective trigger, beavertail forend, deluxe leather case, all in near new condition. To order a gun to match this one today would cost in excess of $34,000 with all of the extras and the case. Keep in mind this gun is like new in every way, with no visible wear and all functions in perfect working order. Stocked in very suitable shooting dimensions and ready for your bird hunting and target shooting enjoyment, this gun is priced to be a wise investment choice for those who love fine shotguns.
The Krupp Steel barrels (special order) are 28" long, choked LM/IM (.008/.015 measured constriction, can be altered to your specs for $90 per barrel), bore diameter of .549.550, no pits or scratches, 100% factory blue, 2 3/4" chambers, ribs tight, no dents, double ivory beads, gold lightning bolts in the breech amid the engraved wedge of engraving, engine turned barrel flats, ejectors strong and timed, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin like a new gun.
The action retains 99.9% vivid factory case color, sharp clear engraving with heavy raised gold inlays, perfect screws, crisp Miller Single Selective trigger, trigger guard retains 99% blue on trigger guard, mechanically perfect in all ways, rebated frame, water table fully engraved, as is the underside of the forend iron.
The wood is Exhibition Grade Turkish walnut with full oil finish in near new condition showing a couple of tiny handling marks, 1/2 round pistol grip, dainty and perfectly proportioned beavertail forend, perfect checkering with flor-de-lis style and ribbons throughout, no splits or cracks, 14 3/8" LOP from rear trigger position to the end of the wonderfully engraved skeleton butt plate, 2 1/8" drop at heel, 1 3/8" drop at comb, neutral cast (can be bent to your specs for $180 within 10 days of purchase), superb wood to metal fit, GORGEOUS WOOD ON THIS GUN!
This gun feels just right between the hands, quick to the shoulder and weighing 6lbs. 5oz., it is not so light as to be "whippy", and not too heavy to carry all day. This gun is very tastefully done and is cased in the highest quality leather case with all accessories. There is little reason to order a new gun when this one is near perfect. There is no wait, and you can buy this barely used Fox for over $10,000 less than the same gun new. No loss in value by "driving it off the showroom floor" and shooting the new gun. There are initials in the gold shield and if you want them changed to your initials or simply removed, it will cost an addition $150 or so.
