The Browning Hi Power is a military icon. Since its introduction in 1935 it has built a remarkable reputation for function and longevity. It is one of the most widely used military pistols in history, having been used by the armed forces of over 50 countries in conflicts from World War two to the present. It was one of the weapons used by both Axis and Allied forces during the 1 World War. Based on a design by John Moses Browning who began work on the gun in 1914, the design was finalized by FN Herstal designer Dieudonne Saive following Mr. Browning’s death in 1926. The Browning was famous for having a double stack magazine with a 13-round capacity, a significant advantage when most semi-automatic side arms of the period held seven or eight rounds. This gave the gun its name- High power- later to be shortened to Hi-Power. This example, serial number 245RN40748 was manufactured in 1979 in Belgium. Everything from the bore to the Deluxe Walnut grips, slide and frame bluing is in 99% factory original condition. Browning has discontinued manufacture of the classic Hi Power. There are copies but there is only one true Belgian made Browning Hi Power. The probability of finding such a notable Hi-Power are diminishing, so add it to your collection soon.
