Here is Mossberg's military variant of the 590, the 590 A1 Persuader. Chambering is for 2 3/4 inch or 3 inch shells; barrel is heavy barrel 20 inch .729 cylinder bore; 8 + 1 capacity magazine tube with mating barrel lug; all-weather synthetic stock and forend with swivel studs included. The parkerized finish is even more durable than the much-heralded Marinecoat. This is the traditional Mossberg 590 action with tang safety, a definite plus for left-handed shooters and even a faster surer safety for stressful situations. The wing-hood protected Ghost Ring rear sight mates well with the Millett Hi-viz Red front sights for instantaneous target resolution, even in low light. We classify it as Excellent, since 90 percent of its surface area is unaffected by any contact indications by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Note that its factory sticker is still attached to the buttstock. These shotguns are not easy to come by, of course. Replacement pricing on these in our area, if a person can even find one, is $600 apiece or more.
