L.C. SMITH IDEAL GRADE .410 BORE-AS NEW-MINT
This is a very rare Ideal Grade .410 bore shotgun with a skeet style beavertail forearm. There was only 220 total Ideal Grades made in .410 bore, and very few of these had the graceful forearm like this one. It also has double ivory beads and IS COMPLETELY ORIGINAL 99% CONDITION. When you figure that at least 10% of a particular grade of gun is lost from the population either through damage or loss, there are fewer than 200 guns left in the world that have these features. There are very few vintage guns still in as new condition. This is a very rare little gun at a very fair price. Whether you shoot, or collect, or invest in these fine old shotguns, this one is a great find.
This 1950 vintage gun has 28” barrels with mirror bores and 99% original factory blue. The double ivory beads are both intact. I do not have a bore gauge for a .410, but will have my gunsmith measure them. The barrels are tight on face and hinge, have 3” chambers, and the ribs are tight and the barrels ring like chimes.
The receiver has sharp, clear engraving, perfect screws, double triggers, trigger guard retains 90% original nitre blued, 99% bold, vivid case colors, extractors.
The wood is factory original finish with as new checkering, 99% finish remaining, no cracks, splits, or repairs. The lop is 14 ¼” to the original butt plate, 2 3/8” drop at heel, 1 5/16” drop at comb, for great shooting dimensions. Everything about the butt stock and forearm says original and new condition.
This is a great opportunity to have a .410 bore Classic American Double in your collection at a price that is reasonable. Waaaay less than an engraved Parker .410. These small bore shotguns in high original condition are great investments and a lot of fun to shoot. There are more pictures upon request. 3 day inspection on all guns.
