A ONE OF A KIND & HISTORICALLY IMPORTANT COOPER M52 CUSTOM CLASSIC in caliber .338-06. This wonderful Cooper is the FIRST .338-06 produced by the Cooper factory!!! Presented at the 2008 Shot Show to introduce the .338-06 chambering in the Cooper M52, this rifle showcases the skills of the Cooper Factory Engraver, Mr. Jeff Spicer and combines the top of the line options from the Cooper Factory craftsmen. THE ENGRAVING: The 19th Century American Fine Scroll engraving begins with a graceful chain design that surrounds the muzzle. As the barrel joins the receiver, the engraving flows from the receiver across the top of the barrel as if reaching for the muzzle. The scroll engraving, combining fine stippling and deep scroll bright work, embellishes at least 75% of all metal services, including the receiver, the trigger guard, the inletted sling studs, the skeleton butt plate and skeleton grip cap, and all screw heads (which are timed north – south). Highlighting the beautiful engraving package is a solid gold, bugling elk in three dimensional, hand carved gold, set amidst complete-coverage engraving on the base plate of the 3 shot magazine. To provide contrast for the engraving bright work, the metal is finished in matte blue. THE OPTIONS: This beautiful Cooper carries all of the highest quality options that Cooper offers: a skeleton butt plate with center hand checkered at 22 LPI; a skeleton grip cap with center hand checkered at 22 LPI; a three panel, hand checkered bolt knob; a pair of inletted sling studs; and a presentation grade Claro walnut stock, hand selected for this show piece by Dan Cooper himself. Standard M52 Custom Classic features include: hand formed and fitted ebony foreend tip, elegant tear drop shaped shadow line cheekpiece, 22 LPI wrap around forearm checkering and cross over grip checkering, hand rubbed oil finish, 24 inch chrome moly barrel; LOP of 13 5/8 inches; OAL of 44 inches; and a weight with bolt and bases of 8 pounds 1 ounce. Factory Test Target attests to the amazing accuracy for which Coopers rifles are renowned. This rifle comes equipped with Talley bases and Talley rings (your choice of one inch or 30MM in low, medium or high height). If you wish to have your rings engraved to match the rifle’s engraving, we will arrange with Mr. Jeff Spicer to embellish your rings for a modest additional cost.
