This listing is for the exact revolver in the photos. Here is Charter’s Bulldog .44 Special in its original configuration, identical to the First Year 1973 guns, except for barrel markings. Manufacturer and warrantor is Charter Arms of Shelton, CT. This is Charter’s Classic Bulldog, Factory variant number is 34431. Type is traditional double and single action true swingout revolver. Chambering is .44 Smith & Wesson Special caliber. Construction is all steel, with the exception of the alloy trigger guard and grip frame, with factory walnut combat grips. Barrel is one piece tapered 3 inch, with 8 groove right hand 18 3/4 rifling in a full lug shroud. Sights are welded steel cast steel ramp and blade front with frame integral fixed notch rear. Main frame, barrel, and cylinder are polished blue, with a matching black anodized alloy grip frame / trigger guard. Note the purplish salt blue tint to the main frame. Cylinder is 5 shot, and the Charter accepts ammunition from a CA44 size speedloader. Trigger is .310 serrated face, with matching serrated spur hammer. Charters generally pull double action in the 12 – 14 pound vicinity, and 4 1/2 pound area single action, with minimal felt creep. Ignition is floating firing pin, with transfer bar safety mechanism that prevents the hammer from contacting the pin unless the trigger is fully depressed. Weight empty is 19 3/4 ounces, with center of gravity at the cylinder stop. This revolver is not a fun gun to shoot with full house loads, so we are including a factory set of rubber finger groove grips as well; one to shoot with, and one set to look at. This Charter comes to us from Charter’s distribution system. It is what we call a factory demo, and likely served as a sales rep’s or writer’s sample. Casting roughness to the front sight’s ramp is original from the factory. Surface detractions are minimal, only a small weak finish spot on the right side of the frame; and faint cylinder rotation marking and carbon on no more than 3 positions on the forward cylinder face. We rate it as Excellent, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. If it was ever fired, it was no more than 20 times. This Bulldog comes in its original box with instruction manual, parts list, Charter Decal, gun lock, YHSA brochure, and never executed factory registration form with Charter lifetime warranty statement.
