Description: This Taurus Model 80 Nickel 4 inch light barrel, or pencil barrel, is one of the early Tauruses imported by International Distributors in Miami in 1981 or 1982, from its 1570000 range serial number. We received brand new mates to it in the 1300000 range in 1980. It spent its entire career sparingly used and carefully maintained by the distinguished officers of the St. James Parish, Louisiana, Sheriff’s Department. It came into service in the latter years of the Honorable Gordon J. Martin, who served his citizens for a total of 40 years. It is fully traditional, 5-screw S&W styling with its original Brazilian Walnut Grips. Note the distinctive serrated sight plane on the frame, front sight blade, and trigger face, as well as the classic purple casehardened hammer and trigger. This revolver is very well preserved, with full strength Satin Nickel throughout. We classify it as Excellent, since 90 percent of its finish is strong and original by our estimate; photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Grips are original Brazilian Goncalo Magna type, and they show only moderate scouring. The only finish penetration on the grips is a few pecks on their butt end. This vintage Taurus 82 Satin Nickel Pencil Barrel is Excellent mechanically as well. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is negligible, only carbon deposits with no cutting whatsoever. Note the very faint carbon residue on the cylinder face; this revolver has been well maintained and has not digested any significant amount of +P rounds, although it is eminently capable of withstanding +P. Double action trigger pull is tight but very smooth, and the hammer travels an additional 15 to 20 degrees after the cylinder times into place on double action. On single action, the hammer travels a full 35 to 40 degrees after the cylinder times on all six positions. Single action trigger pull measures an original 4 1/4 pounds with minimal felt creep. Lateral movement of the cylinder is minimal, no more than 1/2 mm total movement by our estimate with the trigger pulled and negligible with it relaxed. Bore and cylinder chambers are all bright, clean, and excellent. We are including a period correct G&G leather Federal Man left-handed holster. Some of our colleagues among firearms enthusiasts consider Taurus revolvers not to be collectable. We emphatically disagree, especially given this Taurus’s background of service and protection of the citizens of St. James Parish. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
