This musket is chambered in .69 caliber and has a 42” barrel. Lock is date 1821. Barrel is dated 1862 when the conversion was done. 42” barrel is good with scattered wear; greying. This barrel shows an aged patina which has not been tampered with. Bore appears to be clean with no major flaws. Sights intact. Barrel bands intact and very nice; All three show “2” which matches the locks, trigger guard, buttplate and buttplate screws. Bolster shows “H&P” mark for Hewes & Phillips. Lockplate is very good with clear markings; “US” Eagle and “Harpers Ferry 1821”. Hammmer cocks, holds at half cock and full cock and fires flawlessly. Stock is good and shows field wear; scattered dings and dents. There has been a repair on left side between tang and sidelock; Damage has been repaired and the repair is holding firmly together. The front retention bar that holds the front band on has been slightly bent inward however this does not affect the band holding in place. “US” marked buttplate very good with some oxidation wear; patina. Original ramrod included. Tri-cornered bayonet is included; Unsure of its originality. SCARCE H&P CONVERSION!!
