From its retired law enforcment home in nearby Madison County, Tennessee, comes this attractive Remington 870 Wingmaster Pump Shotgun. Manufacturer and warrantor was Remington Arms of Ilion, NY. From its OW barrel code, it was manufactured in June of 1972. Type is slide or pump action repeating shotgun. Construction is entirely steel metal, with exception of the alloy trigger group housing, and walnut forend and buttstock with polymer buttplate. Barrel is 18 1/2 inch smooth bore, chambered for 2 3/4 inch or 3 inch shells interchangeably. Muzzle is .725 Diameter Cylinder Bore, compatible with any lead shot, steel shot, buckshot, or even rifled slugs. Sight system is welded base with steel bead front, and flat milled receiver top rear. Magazine tube is original type with friction seated spring retainer, and detent barrel lug with matching magazine cap. This shotgun will readily accept a 2 shot extension. Forend is thin corn cob serrated type semi beavertail. Standard buttstock length of pull is 13 3/4 inches from the .225 smooth steel trigger face to the end of the 3/4 inch butt plate, with a 3/4 inch right hand cast, and with a drop of from 1 1/2 inches to 2 1/2 inches. Weight empty is 7 pounds 8 ounces with the buttstock, centered at the breech face. Overall length is 40 3/4 inches. Finish is matte surface blued steel receiver and polished blued barrel. Bolt is original chrome plated; shell carrier is modern type factory replacement. Surface detractions are moderate, principally a repair to the center of the forend's under side, and refinish to buttstock and forend. We rate this 870 as Very Good / partial Refinish, 75 to 80 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shopppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean, action is moderately tight.
