Description: This listing is for the exact rifle in the photos, the only one we have. Here is the most sensible bolt action rifle to hit the market in years. It is Mossberg’s MVP chambered in .223 that accepts AR15 / M16 / M4 Magazines. This appears to be the 27716 Patrol variant, with black textured finish hardwood stock. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT, and Eagle Pass, TX. Type is detachable magazine bolt action high powered rifle, with a 75 degree throw. Construction is steel barrel assembly, bolt assembly, receiver, trigger, and internal parts with alloy scope mount and magazine well assembly; and with polymer trigger guard. Chambering is .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO interchangeably. Magazine is 10 shot factory Mossberg MMR, but this rifle will accept any AR15 Magazine like the Colt SP62328 thirty rounder in the photos. Magazine release lever mechanism is all steel, accessible in front of the mag. MVP magazine insertion and ejection is not smooth; sometimes you need to slap the baby’s butt. Barrel is 16 1/4 inch medium, 1:9 right hand six groove right hand button rifling; completely free floating all the way from the muzzle to the Savage type barrel collar. Muzzle has an A2 Cage type brake installed on the 1/2 x 28 muzzle threads with a crush washer. Outside diameter is .755 at the muzzle end, and .820 at the forend area. Metal finish is non glare matte blue, with matching bolt face, handle, and gas deflecting cowl; and with spiral fluted matte finish steel bolt. Sight system is screw on raised ramp front with steel housed red fiber optic bead insert; with Williams alloy 700 type windage and elevation adjustable rear. A 4 screw anchored, 13 slot Picatinny rail traverses the dead 3 inch screw spread across the action. Trigger is .240 steel LBA type with center set blade feature; pull is 3 pound vicinity with negligible to minimal felt creep or overtravel. Safety is very quiet, mounted on the right side behind the bolt handle. Stock is hard finish black hardwood, with machine stippled panels on the forend and pistol grip areas. It comes with a factory issue cheek pad. Sling swivels are blue steel QD type. Length of pull is 13 inches from the LBA trigger face to the end of the 1/2 inch recoil pad. Weight empty is 6 pounds 1 ounce, with center of gravity at the breech face. Overall length is 36 inches. This MVP served light duty as showgirls for Mossberg’s sales team or with their publicity writers. It has the letter U stamped near its serial number. Surface detractions are minimal, principally faint contact marking on the stock and barrel. We rate this Mossberg Patrol as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. If this rifle was ever fired, it was no more than 50 to 100 times. Fewer than 1 in 5 of its mates showed any green copper on our cleaning patches.
