Here is one of the best values in a home defense type shotgun; and it will serve well for hunting too. This is the new Retay GPS Tactical, modeled after the Benelli parent guns. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, magazine tube, slide bar mechanism and internal parts built into an alloy receiver with hard polymer trigger housing. Buttstock and forend are hard polymer with rubber recoil pad. Barrel is 18 1/2 inches with raised blade Italian style front sight that houses a white dot, to match the flat serrated top receiver that has lateral rail indentations. Chambering is for 12 gauge shells, 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch interchangeably. Barrel bore is chrome lined, with proprietary Retay Marapro (r) choke tubes that have their own thread, not interchangeable with the other Italian choke tubes. This shotgun comes with a total of 3 choke tubes: a 5 slash .726 muzzle Cylinder Bore, and installed .707 Modified with 3 slash marks; and a .683 single slash full, along with a mickey type choke tube wrench. The Modified tube is flush fitting; the other two extension type. Barrel lug measures at 12 inches from the receiver face; magazine capacity is 5 + 1 on 2 3/4 inch; or 4 + 1 on 3 inch. Two shot adapter is included. The magazine tube has an integral mouth area rim to ensure compliance with the US State Department’s rules. Trigger is .275 smooth faced; the photo specimen pulled at 7 1/2 pounds with moderate felt creep. Safety is for right hand shooters, positioned behind the trigger. Shell carrier is slotted steel. Buttstock length of pull is 14 1/2 inches; Stock drop is 1 1/2 by 2 inches, straight with no right hand cast. Note the swivel stud on the forend cap, and the swivel eyelet in the buttstock. Overall length is 39 1/2 inches. Weight empty is 6 pounds 1 ounce, centered at the bolt. Finish is matte black. Each Retay GPS comes in its factory box with stock sticker, hang tag, protective papers, with 2 choke tubes and a wrench; and with an instruction manual that includes the importer’s two year limited warranty.
