Rifle was manufactured by Springfield Armory(SA). Serial number of the rifle puts its production date as 1955 making it one of the last M1 Grand rifles manufactured by Springfield Armory. The barrel is a Marlin manufactured barrel dated March 1953. Barrel is probably original since Marlin dated 1953 barrels were being put on late production M1's during the 1955 time period. Exterior of barrel and operating rod show patina as can be seen in the photos. At some point the rifle went through an arsenal rework. Bolt is Winchester marked. Trigger housing and operating rod are both Springfield Armory. Bore is bright with no pitting or corrosion. Evidently the rifle went through the Civilian Marksmanship Program(CMP) at some point as the stock and hand guards are new (CMP) walnut. Stock has a CMP wing spread standing eagle stamped below the left receiver heel. Throat Reading: 4+. Muzzle Reading: 1+. Rifle has no import mark. This Garand makes for a good shooter or collector.
