This is a FACTORY RECORDS LETTERED rifle. The rifle has a 28” round heavy barrel with all of the proper markings. The rifle was shipped in 1877 from the Bridgeport facility. All of the numbers are correct and matching. The overall condition is 90% with total bluing that is starting to patina below the bluing with NO pitting. The receiver is 80% silvered with fading case colors remaining. The rifle has double set triggers and is absolutely 100% mechanically sound. I have filed this rifle, with black powder loads, several times over the years and remains very accurate for young eyes with open sights. The forearms is scratched with some gouging on the bottom, the buttstock is in excellent condition with quite a lot of original finish remaining. The barrel bore has excellent shiny rifling the whole length of the bore. The breech area contains a small amount of black powder pitting. For 143 years old, the old girl is in amazing condition.
