Model 1808 Flintlock Musket with Model 1812 features. Guns > Rifles > Muzzleloading Pre-1899 Rifles (flint)
Description: U.S. Model 1808 flintlock musket with Model 1812 features. Barrel marked OHIO and US. 69 caliber, 3 barrel bands, sling Swivels, Flat beveled lock plate with flint but does not say Harpers Ferry, proper butt plate, ram rod, no serial number. Exact contract unknown as has 36” barrel. Stock in good condition with some cracks on the side opposite the lock as shown in the picture. Sold as a collector’s items only, not warranted safe to shoot. My Dad who gave this to me to pay for his burial always said it was a Harpers Ferry made in 1812. I have file folder on information he collected on flintlocks including a NRA 1968 Article which verified the Ohio and US barrel marks this all will go with the gun. That’s where “U.S. Model 1808 flintlock musket with Model 1812 features” came from I do not know the history of this gun like my Dad did but this is the best I can figure from that article. He also said it was reissued for the Civil war. I’m not sure if that’s when the barrel was changed to 36” or if it was originally made that way.
