Reilly was a London manufacturer who built quality double shotguns until the 1920’s. E.M. Reilly was located on the same street as James Purdey. "E.M. Reilly & Co. 16 New Oxford Street. London. & Paris". The rib on this gun is marked as such. The Damascus pattern on the barrels is very strong, with some very minor wear at the breech end. Intricate English scroll covering 95% of the receiver. Engraving is slightly worn on the sides of the receiver but very strong on the top and bottom as well as the forend iron & trigger guard. Gold inlaid “SAFE” on the top tang at the safety button. The top lever, trigger guard, triggers, forend metal and inspection plate on the bottom of the receiver are blued. The body of the receiver shows 60% case color hardening fading to silver on the edges. Some damage to the screw slot of the top tang screw. The stock is a checkered fancy walnut straight grip with checkered side panels at the receiver. A silver stock oval is inlaid in the bottom of the stock and the recoil pad is a Hawkins style. The stocks have been sanded below the metal in some areas, including the forend iron and top tang. Checkering is smooth from sanding. This shotgun is a consignment sale. Make : E.M.
