Here is a fresh item that Colt only recently reintroduced, the Delta Elite MK IV in Government Size Stainless, 5 inch Barrel. The Delta Elite was introduced in 1987, in the wake of feelings of inadequacy misdirected toward the venerable and effective 9mm caliber, and stayed in production until 1996, The stainless first series of the Deltas came on the market in 1989, discontinued 7 years later. Here is one of the first Second Series Deltas, all stainless, 5 inch barrel, with two Nine Round Stainless Magazines, both stamped with the Rampant Colt on their floorplates. Markings appear to us to be identical to the first series. Also in continuity with the first series, the sides are classic Colt brushed stainless with matte verticals. Only the anodized serrated trigger and 3-dot sights are black. Note the Commander Hammer and Pachmayr Delta Logo Grips. Weight empty is only 37 1/2 ounces, somewhat less than its .45 counterpart and ancestor. The 10mm round itself, of course, is well known as a powerhouse whose ballistic performance parallels that of the .41 Magnum, and the Deltas have always come with heavy duty recoil springs.
