Destructive Device is a technical legal term that does not apply to this shotgun for purpose of law, but it's a good laymen's description of what this Mossberg will do. Fully loaded capability is on a par with 800 rounds of .22 ammunition delivered in 2 or 3 seconds, depending on the operator. Here is Mossberg’s 835 Turkey shotgun outfitted with Choate Extension to up its capacity to 9+1 rounds. Shotgun manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT. Extension manufacturer is Choate Machine Tool of Bald Knob, AR. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, magazine tube, extension, trigger, springs, and internal parts, including the full length steel double slide bar pump mechanism. Barrel is 20 inch and sight system is 10 Post .375 wide serrated top Ventilated Rib, with steel supported high visibility Green Fiber Optic front, with windage and elevation adjustable Red Fiber Optic sight for a three dot sight picture. Choke system is Mossberg Accu-Mag®, and it is furnished with its original factory tube installed, .690 vicinity Extra Full. Accu-Mag thread tubes are available throughout the country. For optimal performance with buckshot, we have included a flush fit Carlson’s open tube as well, .750 vicinity. With its extended steel Choate Machine Tool magazine, this model 835 goes from its original 5 + 1 capacity on 2 3/4 inch shells up to 6 + 1. Capacity, of course, on 3 inch shells is one less, and two less with 3 1/2 inch shells. Payload capability, then, with steel is the close range equivalent of 800 rounds of .22 LR. Forend is semi beavertail with removable factory tactical strap. Buttstock is factory issue ATI M4 type six position collapsible, with five shell reversible caddy. Its length of pull that ranges from 10 3/4 to 14 3/4 inches, from the trigger face to the end of the 3/4 inch rubber recoil pad. Drop at heel is optics ready 1 1/2 inches, with a 3/4 inch right hand cant, so this 835 is not southpaw friendly. Magazine brace swivel will accept up to a 1 1/4 inch sling; and buttstock has a QD swivel eyelet. Finish, with the exception of the choke tubes and Choate magazine tube extension, is Mossy Oak New Break-Up Camo. Weight empty is 7 pounds 6 ounces, with a center of gravity at the back of the forend. Replacement pricing on the shotgun itself is $743.00 on mossberg com, without any extension.
