Description:
Springfield Armory M1 Garand, serial number 29291xx, manufactured June 1944. SA 2-44 barrel with a bright bore, “uncut” op rod. Marked parts are Springfield, no import marks. New stock. This rifle is in very good used condition.
The rifle has been disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and test fired – see our video at our YouTube channel Fernwood Armory TV. Parts were clean for photos, coated with oil and greased where appropriate when reassembled.
Sling and two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo) are included. C & R Eligible.
Springfield Armory M1 sn29291xx Specs:
· Receiver: marked “D 28291 32” on leg, heat lot YO9B. Excellent condition, no pitting, finish has some wear.
· Barrel: marked 3-S-A-2-44” in op rod slot with “P” and punch mark, also “D35448-28-Y-70 H” on top, with misc other marks. Bore is bright like new, good crown and rifling, no chrome pads at gas port. External has some wear, no pitting.
· Barrel Gauge Measurements: Muzzle Wear (MW): 1, Throat Erosion (TE): 3
· Lower band: two piece with solid pin
· Clip latch: early round front type
· Op rod: curved side, marked “D35382 3 SA”, unmodified. Very good condition, no pitting, finish wear in contact areas. Op rod and bolt cycle freely by tilting when everything is assembled except main spring and hammer (Garands with binding or rubbing op rods tend to have feeding and/or ejecting problems).
· Op rod catch: late square front type, unmarked
· Bullet guide: WWII milled type
· Follower: late type, marked “13”
· Follower arm: no bevel, unmarked
· Follower rod: long fork, riveted
· Bolt: marked “D28287 -12SA B4B”
· Sight knobs: WWII lockbar, SA, long pinion
· Rear sight cover: late type with ribs
· Rear sight aperture: early no-track type
· Trigger housing: marked “D28290-14-SA”
· Trigger guard: milled WWII type, marked “Z” inside
· Trigger: late type, no extra hole
· Hammer: marked “C46008-7 SA”
· Hammer spring plunger: WWII type with wings
· Safety: round top, unmarked
· Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring, punch mark on bayonet lug. Marked “434” next to stacking swivel. The gas cylinder/barrel fit has been tightened to maximize accuracy.
· Front sight: 0.68 wide, unmarked
· Gas cylinder lock: beveled front type, unmarked
· Gas cylinder screw: cross slot, poppet valve type, marked “O”
· Stock and handguards: new, walnut, Boyd’s, nice satin finish
added
· Sling: new repro
