Description:
A standard Colt 1877 Storekeeper revolver, Flayderman #5B-181, one of 166,849 of these popular first model Colt double action revolvers made from 1877 to 1909. Many police forces used this model Colt Lightning including, Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago IL, and others. This particular gun is nicely inscribed on the back strap “Sergt. F. Mulcahy”. In 38 long Colt black powder caliber with standard 3 1/2? long barrel, mechanical and markings are very fine, crisp and tight gun, excellent edges, sight and screws, overall retains about 95% fine lightly clouding nickel missing in just a couple of small spots from light holster wear as you can see in the photos.
Very fine condition two piece Mother of Pearl grips, No cracks or chips and an excellent fit to the gun. 75% bright blue remains on most of the screw heads, 85% bright blue on the back of the hammer, 50% fading blue on the trigger, excellent bore and chambers. Excellent roll die barrel caliber markings, serial number 94057. Cylinder match 057, accompanying Colt factory letter shows that it was shipped on July 5th, 1894 to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. in Chicago, IL as part of a 100 gun shipment in 3 1/2? barrels. in nickle finish with grips not listed.
